Measures to Enhance Data Security in MST (June 2025)
1. Data Encryption
For sensitive data, teachers should encrypt files to ensure security.
Proposed Solutions:
A. Password-protect Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Pdf files.
B. Encrypt folders or files using 7-Zip.

Steps: (1) File --> (2) Info --> (3) Protect --> (4) Encrypt with Password

Steps: (1) Open the pdf file with PDFgear --> (2) Tools --> (3) Password
B: Encrypt folders or files using 7-Zip

Steps: (1) Open 7-Zip File Manager --> (2) drag all files and folders to the program --> (3) Encryption ---> (4) Enter pasword
2. Data Backup
Since the IT Committee does not back up the D drive of PCs, teachers are advised to regularly back up their data.
Proposed Solutions:
A. Manually copy data to an external drive on a regular basis.
B. Use backup software to automatically perform incremental backups to an external drive. (Consult the IT Committee for setup assistance.)
